Why do we like this?
Online UK producer Star Slinger partnered up with Tennessee-based Teams for a collaboration that is twerked in all the right places. Released in 2010 via Mexican Summer, Teams vs. Star Slinger is a 12" collection of songs that is soulful, atmospheric, and uplifting. The matrix of hip-hop rhythms, shining beats, and R&B samples are combined flawlessly, giving me a dose of Vitamin D that I've been needing so badly.
Standout track "Say Please" is a glimmering gem that brings together past and present influences with ease. Star Slinger's beats consist of reverberated hooks simultaneously blended with steady electronic fragmentations and my ears just can't seem to get enough. An altogether sexy song, "The Yes Strut" channels your inner club kid and invites you to get down with its sensuously crafted rhythms and retro-infused samples. One look at the video and you will see what I mean.
If you haven't checked out the EP yet, you are in for a sparkling electronic treat. Each track flows together seamlessly but individually offers something quirky and audibly stimulating. Use this album as a kickstart to your pensive longings of summer splendor.
