Why do we like this?

Team Morale has been an act on my radar for a number of years. I first heard their demos through BBC Introducing 5 years ago, and I picked up on something special with their DIY-instrumental sound mixed with intelligent beats and production.

With a healthy SoundCloud discography, it's hard to pick a favorite to latch onto, but with new track "Ubuntu," they've stepped it up a notch. Opening with a thoughtful and provocative vocal sample at the start of the track, the next 4 minutes 10 seconds is a journey through building and waning guitar loops, Burial-esque sampling, and ethnic production at points.

"Ubuntu," as well as being an open source software, is roughly translated as 'human kindness' and is a running theme that demonstrates Team Morale's infectious positive and caring vitality in their music. This is a thoughtful as well as talented production duo whose forthcoming EP will be worth delving into.
