Why do we like this?
This probably won't come as a surprise, but here's another song inspired by the pandemic. Except, perhaps not the way you might presume (lonely lockdown blues being the norm).
Instead, Margot and Théo of Tapeworms were inspired to write "Magic Pierrot" based on their abruptly-ended tour of Japan (thanks, pandemic). The subject matter comes from Shingu, where Margot watched the locals enjoy day-to-day life and herself. Reflecting on this moment elicited enough nostalgia to inspire this song, an upbeat indie rock / shoegazey diddy that's short and sweet, but manages to hit all the right notes for me.
These guys have been going at it since 2016, so if you want to listen to more, check out their Spotify.
