Why do we like this?

Being as England is the birthplace of the shoegaze movement, it's only fitting that artists there are producing some high-quality examples of what shoegaze has become, including the band Tape Runs Out.

Hailing from Cambridge, Tape Runs out consists of four friends doing their best to continue on the tradition of British shoegaze.  Their first EP, Covered In Tape, is a tribute to the analog days of the cassette tape and all its lo-fi goodness.

The first single off the EP, "Friends," starts off with a reverbed out guitar riff mixed with a Cure-influenced bass line, setting the tone for this trip to a simpler time of mix tapes and acid wash jeans. Everything in the track carefully washes together, creating a dreamy soundscape that really puts the dream in dream pop.

You can stream all of Covered In Tape on Tape Run's Out SoundCloud page.
