Following up their impressive debut single "Take It In," fresh new duo Tamper has returned with a powerful second slice of their indie-electronic crossover. Originating from Northern Ireland and Australia, the pair met (and are still based) in New York, they have just put the finishing touches on their first EP.
We compared them to Alt-J on our earlier review, but "Rough Tide" draws even closer comparisons to the British four-piece. Commencing with a delicate opening few bars, the track quickly develops into a chasm of pulsating percussion and twinkling guitar riffs. This deep soundscape is paired perfectly with some of the more evocative, soulful vocals you'll come across -- definitely the band's strong-suit.
Tamper's debut EP (four-track) is due out on June 1, which just happens to be my birthday. Thanks for the gift, fellas.
