Taka Perry is an Australian producer who recently finished High School. "Slow" is our first taste of his upcoming EP, and I'm surprised at the level of quality for such a young artist.
What pulled me in about the dark, rattling track is the feeling it creates. "Slow" is titled appropriately for the measured, hypnotic atmosphere it aims to induce. It uses melting, layered vocals from fellow Aussie musician Jordi Davis of String Elephants (definitely worth a listen) and sublime synth undertones to accomplish its goal.
In the words of the producer:
“Slow’ is about delusions, fantasies, and figments of imagination. I think of it as a love song with a dark, deranged twist. It’s about not being able to find what you’re looking for, so instead creating a fictional version of it.”
It's got a steady beat and relatable lyrics to hammer the message home; overall a strong introduction to the new producer. Download the track while you can or support it on Spotify.
