Why do we like this?
It's painfully clear that we're living in a new age -- the age of tabloids, celebrity culture, and constant sensory stimulation. There's a treasure trove of information scattered across the Internet, open for anyone to view. With a vast amount of content accessible to all, it becomes tricky to determine who's stalking who. What's real and what's formulated?
New band Tabloid challenges these notions in their debut effort "Voyeur." Rather than feed you their quirky back story and add the nuances of their arrival, we'll let the music speak for itself. In full disclosure, the music is all we have to go by anyway since Tabloid (true to their name) have decided to remain obscure about those details.
However, with a track like "Voyeur," you don't need much fluff. The song starts off with ominous chords before some reverbed-vocals take over and drop into a mellowed-out beat. The haunting lead vocals straddle the line of a nostalgic, 80s feel and a having a foot in the future. At times, the production is a bit overboard, but the strength of the vocals keep it in a tolerable range. With such an exciting debut, you'll be hearing and seeing a lot more of Tabloid. Whether they want you to or not. Don't forget to grab the free download too!
