Why do we like this?
The other night, Ta-ku announced he's doing a tribute series dedicated to Japanese hip-hop legend Seba Jun, a.k.a. Nujabes. As many have noted, it's an excellent way to start 2013.
The series is sort of a follow-up to his "50 Days of Dilla," called "25 Nights for Nujabes." Lovely little instrumental beats released nightly to remind you of a producer who died way before his time was due, and whose music, as Ta-ku put it, "was so full of emotion and beauty" that it made him a matchless talent.
This is a quality idea from the self-taught producer who graduated from Red Bull's Music Academy. And this is only the first track! It's exactly what you'd expect: choice sample, smooth beat and well-timed hi-hats. A peaceful yet polished song to kick off the first night.
I love Nujabes, I love Ta-ku, and I love the concept. Outstanding stuff all around; I'm really excited to listen to the rest of the tracks. You can follow the nightly releases on Ta-ku's SoundCloud page, and get ready for more Ta-ku beats in 2013 by liking his Facebook page.
