Adelaide-born Surahn has recently released "Wanted To Fly," a modern take on groovy, psychedelic rock 'n roll. The single is the first original new release from producer/singer/songwriter for a long while - and I think it's incredible.
While you may not know the name, it's likely you'll know the talent. Surahn is a prolific performer and collaborator, having worked with Kimbra and Usher, sung live with Flight Facilities, and toured extensively with Empire of the Sun.
Jangly and packing a serious punch, I cannot get over how funky that bass line is. Not only does it round out the rich up-in-the-clouds atmosphere, but it carries the track in a way that's bright and catchy from start to end. Masterfully bringing '70s psych-rock into 2015, this is a wonderful, remarkably refreshing release.
"Wanted To Fly" is set to feature on Surahn's upcoming debut album Into the Distance, to be released in early 2016 via his own imprint Utopian State.
