Sunbeam Sound Machine is a brand new project headed up by Melbourne native Nick Sowersby, who's been writing and recording under the moniker over the past year and a bit. Now, having enlisted a band of four (plus himself), Sowersby is taking the unusual approach of his first official release being a double EP, with both being due out later this month.
The first taste of these releases is the incredibly dreamy "Cosmic Love Affair," a song I've had on repeat for the last hour or so. A track so heavily laced with psych and reverb is always going to draw comparisons to the likes of Tame Impala or early Grizzly Bear, but I'm also getting a huge
Mighty Boosh vibe (who's with me?). This isn't the type of music for just any old occasion, but if you're in the mood to really zone out, this track will be perfect.
Sunbeam Sound Machine will digitally release their first double EP on November 29, keep an eye on their
Facebook for further updates on the release and live shows (they're just starting a
month-long residency in Melbourne if you're around!)
