Underground hip-hop artist Summon made his first full-length album,
Scapegoat, so good that I thought I'd bring you another track, titled "4x4."
Again working over a Chukchee beat, Summon effortlessly glides over a carnivalesque rhythm, which gives it a a fun house feel with a hook that sounds like it's straight from my third grade teacher -- all the while making you wonder if what is in front of you is what you're really seeing, or hearing. During the verse, Summon gets to work going back and forth between a plethora of religious symbols and life lessons. Never sounding preachy, Summon nevertheless makes sure that you're listening, and most importantly, that you're thinking.
Go pick up
Scapegoat over on
Strange Famous Records. I've got a feeling that we'll be hearing some new Summon material very soon.
