Why do we like this?
Broke For Free's remix of "Sister Winter" by Sufjan Stevens has to be one of the most unique percussive approaches I've heard a remixer use. And as hard as it is to grasp, I can't help but play this song over and over again.
"Sister Wind" was recorded way back in June 2006 for the album Peace: Songs for Christmas, Vol. V. I don't think I'd ever actually given it a listen up until now, and boy have I missed out. The original is spectacularly beautiful, with Sufjan's vocals floating easily over soft and simple acoustic guitar, a touch of piano and some beautiful string work.
At the end of the day however, I think I'm enjoying the pace of Broke For Free's just a touch more. If you are as well, be sure to grab a free download here.
