Why do we like this?

Grime producer Mr Mitch has really come to prominence since he invented the peace dub, a direct response to the genre's energetic, aggressive war dubs. Peace dubs take the opposite approach, focusing on grime's melodic, emotional, and, at times, ambient side.

Since Mr Mitch's first peace dubs a couple of years back, the idea has really taken off. So much so that his label is now readying the Peace Edits Vol. 1 for release in February.

A particular highlight is Strict Face's "Alice (Peace Edit)," a serene but emotional track whose central riff will be immediately familiar to anyone who grew up in '90s Britain -- its retooling evokes a sort of wistful nostalgia.

You can pre-order the vinyl only EP right here.
