The band's name captured my attention. I won't lie. I guess coming from NYC I have some sort of allegiance to the term: stoop. It wasn't until I pressed play, though, and listened to this song, that I decided that I had to post it.
"Good Enough" is a summer day jam that plays to the background of hot summer days spent running barefoot over lava-like asphalt, shooting to run under the water-ladened wet arcs that came from homemade sprinklers attached to fire hydrants. Oh, Brooklyn.
"Good Enough" takes me back to a time where you couldn't leave your stoop because you were much too young to get in trouble, but you didn't want to.
That stoop becamse where life existed. Friends that walked on by throughout the day and stopped to kick it with you. Ice cream trucks, the occasional sprint to the corner against that other friend who always challenged you in sports. The car accidents, the domestic disputes. Even sports like stoopball and wiffleball happened there. Entire leagues, even.
Constructed like a 50's Doo-wop track, this slow jam with the fast groove will brighten up the cloudiest of days, and brighten up the already sunniest ones.
How's that for the short description of why you should listen.
On a neurological level, Mr. Powell writes, listening to music is “an excellent way of providing moderate brain stimulation”—which our brains crave—“and giving pleasure at the same time.” -WSJ, quoting John Powell's, Why We Love Music.
