I'm not sure how many times I have already said this in the summer of 2018, but as it is now September I'll say it just once more: this is one of my songs of the summer. Dark synth-pop, underrated indie band, dreamy female vocalist? Now, this is speaking my language.
"Black Lagoon" is the first release off of Still Corners' just-released album, Slow Air, via their own label, Wrecking Light. "Black Lagoon" is eerie and atmospheric, evoking feelings of the desert heat. Fitting, as the record was recorded during a hot spell in Austin, Texas. Singer Tessa Murray croons ethereally while the track swirls over an ambient haze, drawing the listener into Still Corners purpose-built atmosphere.
All four of Still Corners' albums are worth a listen. Start with "Black Lagoon" and tuck in.
