Why do we like this?
I absolutely love it when I attend a show for a specific performer and discover a whole new artist. Such was the scenario with St.Paul and the Broken Bones of Birmingham, AL when they preceded the talented singer, James Bay, at the Mercury Lounge in Brooklyn, New York.
Their lead singer Paul Janeway does not look like a star (what does that actually mean, right?), but his soulful vocal range wraps around your brain and convincingly proves that you haven't heard a purer, more soulful or more powerful voice since Ray Charles. And though his moves aren't as smooth as James Brown, his committed effort and tireless attempts are thoroughly entertaining.
St.Paul and the Broken Bones is compromised of guitarists, drummers and trumpeters! If you are into live instruments, jazz, a little bit of funk, and raspy-soulful vocals then look out for them in your city!
