Why do we like this?
This is Spinto Band's first official review on Indie Shuffle! I think it's about time all you shufflers give them a listen. Spinto Band is a group of guys from Delaware, and they've got a niche for making incredibly infectious experimental indie pop.
Case in point: their video for their track, "The Living Things." Not only is this song great, but the video is so amusing, humorous and downright creative that it softens the ominous dark side of what the songs represents. Most of the video is simple, yet so intriguing and creative. It just goes to show you that a music video doesn't have to be outrageous and over the top in order to be considered really great.
If you haven't guessed yet, the video is about living things -- whether it's amoebas or critters or humans, there's a common theme between all of us. The end of the video features the band members in a stop-motion dance number of sorts. It's weird, quirky and impressive; those mid-air spins do not look easy.
If you haven't gotten Spinto Band's newest album, Shy Pursuits, I really think you should. It just came out this month and it's really quite great. Check it out on NPR here. Enjoy!
