Why do we like this?
A few months ago, I came across "Hidden Edelweiss,"  a beautiful acoustic gem from singer-songwriter Spark Alaska.  While Lorenzo Cook (the main behind the musical guise) has been busy in school, he hasn't been too busy to continue writing his simple yet poignant pop songs.

With another full-length album in the pipeline due out sometime soon on Cat Skull Records, Spark Alaska had recently released "Serendipity," which is set to be part of the new album, as well as this most recent single, "Aloe Vera."

Again with an acoustic guitar as the backbone, "Aloe Vera" features Spark Alaska's powerful narrative in a story told over the gentle strumming.  It's like sitting around a campfire listening to one of your friends bare his soul over a guitar.  "Aloe Vera" touches on the pain of distance, whether that distance is physical or emotional.  Just like aloe vera can only soothe a sunburn temporarily, the only true cure for the pain is complete healing, or in this case, the closing of the distance gap.

The toy piano adds the perfect touch to yet another perfectly crafted track from someone poised to make their name in an industry filled with singer-songwriters.  What really makes Spark Alaska stand out is his honesty and ability to be completely himself within his tracks.  Let's just hope his professors take it easy on him so he can get this record done soon.
