The Naked And Famous' Aaron Short's side project, Space Above, has just dropped their wonderful debut album Still.
Comprising of producer and keyboardist Short, and fellow kiwis, Sam McCarthy (BOYBOY) and Maddie North (So Below), Space Above deliver an album of euphoric electronic sounds with crips production and soaring lyrical content.
Of the nine track project, "Leave It Still" is bubbling synth-pop number in the vein of Goldfrapp, "Stay" a glitchy computer ballad and "Beneath The Light" seven minutes of Krautrock, it's early single "Fall Through" that still gives me the shivers. A building wall of electronic goodness pairs with North's ethereal vocals, with the unsettling Jordan Blady film clip somehow making it all make sense.
