Last September, I featured South Of France's single, "Comme Ça," a punchy and infectious indie pop track. Well, that track was featured in the 2020 season premiere of Bojack Horseman. Pretty cool, right? Here's what I said about that song in my review linked above:
"South of France has taken the elements of the golden era of indie pop (RIP) and revised it into a contemporary sound that is fit to stand out in the saturated genre that is indie."
Those are some pretty strong feelings, and those feelings have returned now that South of France has released "Hideaway." Shockingly, the band isn't from some coastal city in the South of France; they're located in Denver, Colorado.
Founded by multi-instrumentalist and producer, Jeff Cormack, South of France has found the sweet spot in their sound, at a crossroads between contemporary and retro. Also, side tangent: if you're into '60s style music, check out South of France's cover of The Troggs' famous song, "With A Girl Like You." It's fuzzy & nostalgic.
Anyways, enjoy your weekend <3
