Why do we like this?
I saw an interesting interview with MartyParty on YouTube recently. He talked about how he thought bass music is going to overtake hip hop because it creates so much raw energy. He references the fact that "people are getting a little tired of four minutes of rapping," which isn't necessarily true, but I think this idea holds some merit. Mainstream hip hop needs some better producers that know how to get a crowd going with the rhythm of the track, as opposed to just the lyrics.
Marty recently dropped this remix of Soulstice's "Changes" over on his SoundCloud page. There are a few remixes floating around for this track, but I have yet to find the original version, so it's a little tough to gauge the differences between the two.
As soon as Marty's bass-hungry beats chime in, I imagine how great it would be to hear this song at a live performance. Enjoy!
