The third single of Sorry's new era, "Key To The City" is a more ethereal take on the duo's signature mix of melodic dynamism and intriguing lyricism, taking production queues from trip-hop staples like Massive Attack. This could be attributed to the fact that Adrian Utley (a founding member of Portishead) worked on their new album, Anywhere but Here.
Asha Lorenz's vocals continue to inject a fresh and approachable edge to the post-punk indietronica track. Emotional yet effortless, her delivery makes it seem like the melodies are just pouring out of her as a warm and heavily-chorused guitar line starts off the song. The muffled treatment of the vocals and eerie nature of the instrumentation reminds me ever so slightly of some of the more tender moments on St Vincent's progressive pop album, Masseduction.
