Yeah, yeah. Anna Wise of Sonnymoon is all over the new Kendrick Lamar album that is all over everything at the moment. That's all nice and stuff, but I'm not here for K.dot, I'm here to tell you about Anna and Dane -- the psychedelic twosome enchanting listeners with their self-released Golden Age EP in 2009. Their proper self-titled debut came in 2012 via Plug Research and it caught the two mid-flight, not quite soaring.
They've been taking the past few years to hone their sound, work with other artists, and just live life. Looks like they've lived enough, because the sophomore album, The Courage of Present Times, is just around the corner.
i-D magazine premiered "Grains of Friends" recently and the sound is as spacey as ever. Playful and coy, the music darts around while Anna's syrupy vocals confidently string the listener along. Releasing next Tuesday, the Sonnymoon ship is going up, up, up!
