San Francisco country pop band Sonny and the Sunsets have always been on the sunnier side of folk. But with their new album, they have embraced a
weirder version of the band, and have crafted what could be considered some sort of concept album with
Antenna to the Afterworld.
With tracks like "Dark Corners," "Mutilator," and "Green Blood," Sonny and the Sunsets' sound has a cosmic blast that sounds both fresh and cool.
This track, "Palmreader," showcases some of their instrumental prowess. Gone are the simple guitar strumming acoustic melodies, and in their place are sonic experiments that drone and dazzle. I think it's a great addition to their sound, and makes this record really entertaining.
