Why do we like this?
Electronic duo Solomon Grey return with their first official single of 2013, the ambient "Gascarene Sound." The track is an aural delight, with vocals similar to Bon Iver cascading over droning electronic production, similar to Air circa The Virgin Suicides. This is a slow burner; the synths slowly building as strings and otherworldly sounds combine to drive "Gascarene Sound" to its cascading finale.
There's a very Blade Runner-esque feel to this one, with a mechanical energy that would be the perfect soundtrack for any dozen number of classic 80s sci-fi flicks. Another stunner from Solomon Grey.
