On her SoundCloud page Sofi de la Torre claims, "I make pop done right," and after listening to her latest single, "Flex Your Way Out," it's hard to disagree.
The Spanish singer combines with multi-instrumentalist Blackbear for a slinky ode to a failed relationship, albeit with an optimistic tone.
Torre's sensual and dreamy vocals float over Finnish producer Jonas Karlsson’s trap influenced pop soundscapes, while LA's Blackbear offers a short rap and lush harmonies that intertwine with Torre's own vocals.
It's the melding of genres, combined with Torre's soothing vocals that make "Flex Your Way Out" such a great tune. As for how the collaboration came about with Blackbear, Torre had this to say;
“I’ve always had it in the back of my mind that our voices would sound great together, so I sent him a message after writing this track in Helsinki. He got back to me straight away with that killer verse & vocal and I’ve had it on repeat ever since!”
Currently working on her sophomore EP, "Flex Your Way Out" is the perfect jumping point togged in on the bottom floor before Torre blows up.
