The Gorillaz last album opened with a nautically inclined Snoop Dogg welcoming us to the world of the Plastic Beach, before disappearing on the island never to be heard from again. On "Sumthin Like This Night," we find out what he was up to.
Not surprisingly: getting high.
Or as Snoop put it, "When I work with the Gorillaz, they to me is like cartoon characters - we havin' fun, we makin music."
The result is a celebratory anthem, with a modern day electronic reggae vibe. Although it sounds like the track was laid down on synthetic shores, it was actually recorded in the Gorillaz London studio, and is featured on Snoop's 11th studio album, Doggumentary, due out March 29th.
Snoop summarizes once more, "It's like 'maybe I can smoke with you, maybe I can't, but it's Sumthin Like This Night."
