Why do we like this?
Wisconsin-based psychedelic pop duo Peaking Lights released chilled out "Tiger Eyes (Laid Back)" earlier this year. Now we find the duo remixing Chicago indie rockers Smith Westerns, taking on Dye It Blonde track "End of the Night."
This pairing might seem weirdly unexpected, but as remixes go, this track stays true to its original form while still transforming into a shimmery synth-induced, kaleidoscopic trip. The song starts off quickly with thick infectious rhythms and Omori's reverberated voice creepily proclaiming "everybody wants to be a star on a Saturday night." While the original garage rock track is hiding underneath layers of dub and homemade synth beats, you can still hear the perky subtleties embedded in the undertones.
