Why do we like this?
Melbourne band SMILE has routinely been a favorite of mine since I first happened across them a couple of years back. They're not just another slacker band, hovering somewhere in between the current genre and something from a bygone era.
The four-piece have popped up once again with another great single. "Boundless Pains to Share" is one of the more interesting numbers they've put together to date. A building intro soon develops into a jangle-pop loop, with chanted vocals and sparkly guitar giving this track a really soothing feel. It's a perfect lazy summer slowburner.
The new jam is the first official release on Smooch Records, a brand new label started by a couple of SMILE's members.
