I've always been a sucker for well-crafted and tasteful ambiance, so when I heard "Morphine" after it magically appeared on my Soundcloud feed, I was immediately hooked.
This track succeeds at creating a sense of psychedelia rarely achieved in modern music without coming off as a tacky 70's cover song. While listening, there were times when I could feel a strong tingling sensation running through my body. And while I'm—mostly—sure that this was a psychosomatic experience, it still doesn't dilute the effectiveness of the track.
Every note and every word pulls you into another world where time moves so slowly it almost seems to stand still. The predominantly electronic instrumentation also does its job extremely well, as it uncharacteristically evokes a feeling of warmth and intimacy uncommon in a lot of electronic music.
