To be transparent, when I hit play on this song for the first time, I was sitting in pajamas, post break-up, and I wasn't really feeling like listening to anything but sad music. Well, Slumberjack and GRRL PAL took me right out of a negative headspace, and put me in the perfect mood with "Enigma."
This avant-garde trap sound has grown to immense popularity, and Slumberjack has been at the forefront of the genre, consistently pushing it to higher levels. They've managed to stand out amongst many imitators of Mr. Carmack, Flume, Rustie, and Cashmere Cat, and they've accomplished the sought-after goal of having a signature sound.
I know how tough that is, because once upon a time I attempted to produce tracks along this line. And to make a long and frustrating story short and sweet, I was unable to come near to what these guys have done. Sound design like this is so intricately executed, so I tip my hat to them, and hope for many more tunes to come.
