Secretly SXSW is hosting a badass showcase at Barracuda on Thursday, March 16. You’ll want to hop in line early, so you don’t miss top performances by Khruangbin and Cherry Glazerr, but also so you can catch the day’s opening act Slow Dancer.
Australian singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Simon Okely previously played guitar in the band Oh Mercy, but how he’s stealing the stage for himself. We’ve covered Slow Dancer’s most recent single --off his upcoming mysterious sophomore solo album-- so I’m covering my favorite track today.
This song sounds like it belongs pressed against a road trip montage in some heartbreaking indie flick. It’s introspective, gentle, and precious.
Halfway through the chaos of SXSW, you’re going to need Okely’s lovely indie R&B to soothe your weary shoulders and tired feet. Don’t miss this haunting musician next week.
