Glory to the rave gods for gracing us with a new house track from Swedish DJ/producer Kornél Kovács, just in time for the weekend.
A remix of an ambient house track by Polish producer SLG, Kovács takes the minimalistic “Varsovia Marimba” to new heights with bottom-heavy drums, glittering percussion, and a cinematically tense timing of layers.
Despite previous success from dance hits like “Skirza” and “Pantalon,” Kovács had his breakout moment last year with the release of his loud, glossy debut album, The Bells. Catching the attention of the blog community, Kovács became a darling of many top-100 lists at the year’s end, and people have been paying close attention since.
This remix is Kovács first release through Pet Recordings. Most of his past releases have been through Studio Barnhus, the Stockholm label founded by Kovács in 2009 with fellow musicians and friends Axel Boman and Petter Nordkvist. Lately, though, Kovács has been premiering some remixes and singles through various European electronic and house labels, such as R&S Records, Rebirth and Numbers.
