Detroit recording artist Slap Nevada, formerly known as Tree Ave, recently went through a name change as a symbol of his individuality and belief in personal freedom. Righteous.
The 21-year-old producer/rapper experienced some solid exposure in 2013 with his debut
Don Juan Demarco. His latest project,
Ricky James, has stronger production value and shows that he's, for now, committed to his sound and artistic movement. The progression is occurring, as we can hear on the extremely wavy "Dreamcatcher," which has a very low-key, West Coast hip-hop vibe to it. This is odd, considering Slap hails from Detroit, but you won't find me upset about this conundrum. The track bumps, and the EP features six fully mastered songs in total, all written and produced by Mr. Tristan Mims (aka Slap Nevada) himself.
