Myles Mills -- most commonly referred to as Skizzy Mars -- has been hard at work lately. Teaming up with go-to producer Michael Keenan, the two have been tucked away in the lab cooking up some serious vibes.
First of those to be released is "Numb," which is off Skizzy's upcoming project
Pace. The progression and evolution of his trademark NYC club/lounge hip-hop sound is apparent. There is the ever-present affinity for picking
catchy samples, sprinkling on tasty synths and swaggy hits, and topping things off with the introspective smooth flow. Add in a nice dose of fresh hooks with just the right amount of auto-tune, and it all culminates into nothing short of impressive.
Skizzy and his team continue to bridge the gap between genres and are catalysts for sending contemporary hip-hop into a direction that is more upbeat and dancey; less grimey and gangster. The unique sound is thoroughly agreeable, and it's inspiring to see Myles taking things to the next level.
Pace drops 3/4/14. Stay tuned for more.
