Why do we like this?
Ever since Skaters' teaser of an EP, I've been patiently waiting for their next release. Well, they're back with a 7", and one of the tracks, "Armed," is a perfectly avant garde synth-rock trip.
Skaters has the ability to maintain quite a chill undertone while fearlessly topping that with edgy grunge overtones that makes for a sound they can call their own. The rhythm section has got a wordly tropicalia feel to it while the electric guitar keeps things raw and kraut. The vocals are atmospheric and reverberated, so much so that this song would be a lovely accompaniment to getting straight-up wasted. Cheers!
The other track to their 7", "I Wanna Dance (But I Don't Know How)," is a fun and more pop-friendly contrast to "Armed" and also deserves a listen, and then some.
