Sirma is the Brooklyn-based artist hailing from Istanbul who managed to seamlessly transition from classical piano to rock to her current reincarnation as a darkwave pop songstress.
On this remix of "Trigger," off her debut EP Instincts, Montreal duo Blue Hawaii shift the focus from the brass theatrics of the original track to allow Sirma's voice to shine, or rather, haunt you mercilessly.
The production duo chose to strip away the fanfare and create a more subdued reprisal by filtering and reverbing her vocals as they fade in and out, set against a backdrop of chilling hi-hats, automated drum rolls, and tribal minimalism. It's a creaking chugger, creeping along steadily but forcefully, entrancing listeners as their bodies squirm and wriggle to the beat.
