Super producers Simian Mobile Disco have just released a new single called "Snake Bile Wine" off their own Delicacies label. SMD gave the track its name from "a tipple enjoyed in both China and Vietnam, where the venom and bile from the gall bladder is believed to improve male virility, amongst other benefits "“ consuming the poison makes you a man, it seems"¦. snakes are either steeped whole in wine, or the bile is squeezed directly into a glass." Yum?
Simple, well-designed variation makes this a venomous techno track. With a progressive melody and an ever-marching bassline, the European duo plays with crescendoing elements until they hit a sublime drop just over halfway through the eight minute delicacy. For those of you who are familiar with the "Hustler" side of SMD, "Snake Bile Wine" certainly will depart from your sphere of knowledge.
