A few months back, we brought you producer Nate Belasco's so-strange-it-works mashup of Kanye West's "Black Skinhead" and Tame Impala's "Elephant" (check it out
here). The track was well received and hit the top spot of our popular charts in record time. Today, Belasco is back with another unusual mashup, this time splicing Sigur Ros' ethereal "Isjaki" with Juicy J's trap-tastic "Bandz A Make Her Dance."
It's hard to put into words just how intriguing this mixup is; with Juicy J, Lil' Wayne and 2 Chainz rapping about girls dancing for money in strip clubs over Sigur Ros' atmospheric instrumentation, complete with frontman Jonsi Birgisson's emotive falsetto. Belasco has tagged the track as "Icelandic trap," and I couldn't think of a better explanation.
Whether you're a fan or not, you have to applaud Belasco for his inventiveness, and I continue to look forward to what he will come up with in the future.
