Somehow in all my posts about Detroit artists, I've yet to do one for Shigeto. Have to thank Jason for sending this one along. He knows how I like my house.
I've seen Shigeto around a lot, performances all over the city and he's always a solid bet. He'll perform various styles depending on the evening, whether it be an art museum vibe with him getting raw on the drums, or an underground club vibe, showing up the headliner with some hard hitting house. But my favorite is when I catch him at Motor City Wine – the most lo-key, vibey place to hear classic house in the neighborhood of Corktown, nestled snugly in the city of Detroit. The atmosphere is always casual, filled with many clicking glasses of wine and shuffling feet; old friends and new friends catching up under a wash of red lighting in a warm, dimly-lit room. Pure house romance.
"Detroit Part II" is exactly what Shigeto will be spinning there, and as it turns out (I swear I didn't know until I just now Googled) "Detroit Part II" is named after his new series The New Monday at Motor City Wine. Fancy that.
Part of The New Monday LP the entire release will drop via Ghostly so keep an ear out and enjoy!
