Why do we like this?

It’s not surprising that the epicenter of surf rock would be based in California, but Oakland might be a stretch from the beach town vibe one would expect. That’s exactly where Bay area-based Shannon and the Clams have built their dedicated following, however.

“It’s Too Late” is the second single off of their latest Gone by Dawn. With a similar sound to fellow surf-rock darlings Best Coast, Shannon and the Clams take elements of doo-wop and give them a punk rock twist. Imagine a modern-day Buddy Holly with a little more edge.

Shannon and the Clams just got added to both weekends of the 2017 Coachella lineup, so you’ll likely be seeing more from them in the future.
