Say hello to your new favorite find. I’m honored to help [re]introduce you to Joe Boston, better know as shallou.
Currently based out of Chicago, this introspective artist, producer, classically trained singer, and environmentalist is creating gorgeous electronic textures that will gently envelop your tender heart.
A dear friend recently recommended shallou’s music to me through a carefully curated birthday playlist. (Is there any better gift for a music lover?) I feel lucky to have discovered this soulful artist so early in his career. His cool (but not cold) single, featuring Samuel Aaron Bennett, AKA Wales, was the perfect introduction for me. Now I’m soaring through his catalog of singles and a recent 2017 EP, All Becomes Okay.
In an interview with LANDR, Boston shared that he wants listeners “to feel something” when listening to his soft noise.
“I aim to take elements of new original sounding acts like Odesza and Tycho and blend more indie elements, thoughtful lyrics and deep emotion,” Boston said.
Keep an eye on his Twitter feed. There is new music to come. And this week, shallou announced tour dates with Big Gigantic, as well as headlining shows in San Francisco, LA, Chicago, and Brooklyn.
If you’re a fan of ambient art, shallou’s music will naturally fit alongside your treasures from Roosevelt, Tycho, and Gold Panda. I hope this rising star helps narrate your precious, midnight moments for years to come.
Enjoy.
