Seven Davis Jr. is drawing from a vibrant well of influences, or in this case, a very purple one. "Purple Music" is more like Prince's "Purple Rain" on a funk house binge.
Futuristic, funky, and unique, Seven's brand of house won't be easily forgotten. What's more, he does his own vocals, which are so good they'll give you whip lash.... because like, you'll be double taking... with your ears!
Eh. Okay. I'm writing this up really late and I'm so spent, I got nothing. But I seriously was really impressedby this track. "Purple Music" isn't shy about where it's drawing inspiration — past and present combined it makes for an incredibly quality soulful house romp.
"Purple Music" comes off of Somethinksounds' compilation The Love Below #3 which also features Eliphino and REKchampa. Hear the whole thing via SoundCloud and enjoy!
