Wow, what just happened? An hour ago around 1:00am I was sitting bleary-eyed at my desk lazily sifting through new music, then I came across this insane debut and here I am 50 plays later feeling like I just took a double shot of espresso. This song is nuts - what an intro for Semi-Attractive Boy.
Inventively segmented not unlike a Lemon Twigs jam, "Her Heart Isn't Beating For Me" is a beautiful journey from bare piano ballad to all-out shred fest with arresting tempo changes and incredibly impressive vocal versatility along the way.
The man behind the project is LA-based Baker Wallis, who was apparently a perennial class clown, was diagnosed with Tourette's growing up (which got him kicked out of church), and was formerly employed by a church camp. I dig it.
The single is out via 20XX.
