Why do we like this?
Let's all welcome Secret Cities to the Indie Shuffle community. I think you'll really like them. They just came out with ther sophomore LP, Strange Hearts, and this is not one to pass by!
Their single, "Always Friends," perfectly captures the oh-so-common platonic and not-so-platonic dilemma(s) of 20-somethings these days. Take the first line of the song, for example: "Say what you want to say to me/Crack open my heart just as it starts to mend/Cause I thought we'd always be friends." Right? Ugh.
As heart-wrenching as the lyrics are, this song is incredibly catchy and well-constructed overall. The hard guitar compliments the slightly salsa beat while the opera-esque vocals take the lead. This is psychedelic pop at its finest.
I'm really excited to see what's in store for Secret Cities. They've got a great approach to modern-day psych pop, so if you agree, you can get their Strange Hearts LP right here. Enjoy!
