Why do we like this?

When this song was sent to me, it alluded to the new Gorillaz album and lamented that it didn't sound more like... this song. Clearly, that resonated with me.

I can't say this is really on the same level as Gorillaz, but I will admit that I quite enjoy the general vibe. It has all the right layering, builds, and hooks; a mellow journey that sits well with my ears.
