Why do we like this?
SBTRKT is fast becoming a favorite of ours here at Indie Shuffle, and his latest track "Ready Set Loop" certainly isn't doing anything to harm that standing.
It seems that his upcoming debut album, due out June 27, will take in a whole range of genres from the sub-bass cannon, with previous efforts leaning toward dubstep, with -- as you can hear on this track -- clear funky house origins. Built a round a very simple beat, which is then looped (hence the title, presumably), this song manages to avoid monotony and repetition to become one of the catchiest tracks the UK underground bass scene has thrown up yet.
If it was a bit more accesible, I'd expect to hear it plastered all over Radio 1, but in its current form, I think it will remain something of an alternative pleasure.
