Perth trio Savoir really knocked my socks off with their most recent single "Malala," probably one of the most pleasant surprises this year so far. Now, with 2014 drawing to a close, they've doubled-up with a second release -- one that's even more stunning than their first.
The double A-side and title track from their upcoming debut 12” EP, "Eternal" is another example of this fresh act's talent. This one's a lot more hip-hop styled than "Malala," a trend I'm hoping they make use of going forward. Vocally, Mei Swan's smoky tones suit the production to perfection, with just a touch of that Afro-beat drum slipped in to keep things interesting. I can't stop listening to this, so don't be surprised if "Eternal" ends up in my favorite Australian tracks of the year.
Eternal will be released November 24 on new Australian label Plastic-World.
