"Catharsis" is a classically influenced piece released a few years ago as a Japanese bonus track on Savant's 2013 Cult LP.
I think the most interesting thing about Catharsis is its progression, it behaves like a classical symphonic piece, with movements and variants, broken into sections more compositionally dynamic than modern pop and electronic songs. Introducing itself with a building orchestral call and response section, it has an ethereal heir, that is until the blip introduces itself. Then the entire thing breaks into a peculiar complex funk section before progressively mixing the two throughout the rest of the song.
It's a rare blend of ingenuity between musical styles.
