Why do we like this?

Tropical disco. That's what "Northern Lights" sounds like to me. Tropical anything is a style of music I never tire from. Like, yes, take me there. Make me feel like I'm anywhere with palm trees and sunshine. Remind me of the innocence of ocean side bliss.

German music producer, Tim Bernhardt of Satin Jackets, and Berlin-based British vocalist, David Harks, call it "Balearic" - a term I've heard before, but am not so comfortable using. Balearic, as described by Pitchfork is, 'a hippie-dippie, candy-flipping fusion of synth pop, yacht rock, acid house, faux reggae, and ambient music.'

I can get down with that for sure. If that's what "Northern Lights" is, then consider me a fan of Balearic.

Enjoy!
